The contribution of co-operatives to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals
The messages for International Day were a valuable input for the discussions at ICA's General Assembly 2003 which focused on "Co-operatives for Democratic, Social and Economic Development". In addition, the documents and events to celebrate the Day provided an opportunity for co-operators and their communities to learn more about the United Nations Millennium Development Goals - time-bound and measurable goals and targets for combating poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women - and assist in making considerable progress in reaching these goals.
