Colloquium on Contribution of the Co-operative Sector to Housing Development

26-28 June 2002, Hilton Hotel, Ankara (Turkey) The Colloquium was convened to address the UN Habitat Agenda which call for collaboration of the United Nations system and the co-operative movement to improve shelter delivery and the management, maintenance and revitalisation of housing stocks. It focused on the diverse housing co-operative experiences with particular emphasis on the realities in Central and Eastern Europe where privatisation of the housing stock has in some instances led to housing co-operatives being transformed into condominiums. The meeting was co-organised by the United Nations HABITAT, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), International Co-operative Alliance (ICA), Housing Development Administration of Turkey (HDA) and the Central Housing Co-operative Association in Turkey.
