'Networking Diversity: Including Women and Other Under-Represented Groups in Cooperatives', by Myfanwy Van Vliet, discusses the current forces of globalization that are challenging co-operatives to embrace diversity. Diversity can enable co-operatives to be more adaptable to change. It can also be a source of fresh ideas and innovation in the organization, all of which will strengthen the place of co-operatives in the global market and increase social cohesion in communities. Networking Diversity: Including Women and Other Under-Represented Groups in Cooperatives examines problematic issues that need addressing, such as overcoming heterosexism, discrimination, and barriers in management positions. Finally, this paper provides examples of areas where the co-operative sector has overcome boundaries of differences to meet the needs of under-represented groups, while becoming successful organizations in local communities. Click here to read the article.
