CHF Canada founded and continues to support Rooftops Canada Foundation/Abri international, an international development organization. Rooftops’s goal is to improve housing conditions and build sustainable communities in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe. Rooftops Canada works in partnership with local groups to help them meet the long-term housing needs of their communities. Its work is made possible through funding from CHF Canada and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and donations and support from housing groups and individuals. Rooftops Canada's other Canadian partners include the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association and the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association. Rooftops Canada is recognized as the primary Canadian non-governmental organization devoted to international issues of human settlement. For the Habitat II conference and preparatory committee meetings, Rooftops Canada was the NGO liaison, and also acted as the global NGO secretariat.
NBBL
NBBL works together with local organisations to help improve the living conditions of people in some of the world's poorest countries. NBBL has 12 years' international experience, and believes in local ownership and responsibility.
Each members of co-operative housing associations contributes one Norwegian krone (NOK) annually of their membership fee to the NBBL's development fund. The NBBL also receives support from Norad (the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation) for projects in Africa and from the Norwegian State Housing Bank for projects in Russia. HSB
CHF International is applying a variety of existing best practices and methodological tools to help cooperative stakeholders improve their performance in Bosnia, Mongolia and the Philippines. The Innovating, Measuring and Promoting Poverty Alleviation by Cooperatives in Transition Societies (IMPPACTS) program is working with cooperative organizations to develop enabling environments for the growth of cooperatives businesses in each respective country.
