CECODHAS has a
Social Housing and Structural Funds document that highlights the available funds that the EU offers in this field.
After long and demanding negotiations between all the European stakeholders of the European Cohesion Policy, the Structural Funds package for the period 2007-2013 came into force on January 1st this year. Given the increasing urbanisation of European society as well as the social, economic and environmental diffi culties faced by citizens in European cities, an increasing emphasis has been placed on urban renewal in the EU as a whole, and more specifi cally, on housing in the new member states for the next period. This represents a major step towards stronger territorial cohesion through sustainable urban development. Within this framework, social housing has gained relevance and new fi nancing opportunities that will contribute to a better development for our cities and their citizens.
