FENACHE is the National Federation of Economic Housing Co-operatives in Portugal founded in 1980.  It is the only nationwide organization bringing together housing co-operatives.  FENACHE represents housing co-operatives at the national and international level and works closely with the housing sector stakeholders to achieve better housing policies.  Even though, FENACHE is not directly involved in the building of housing co-operatives, it plays an important in disseminating information namely around environmental issues and eco-construction.  FENACHE’s other responsibility is to foster, organize and disseminate housing co-operation among co-operatives. 

FENACHE is a member of the Confederation das Cooperativas Portuguesas (CONFECOOP), the umbrella organization of the Portuguese Co-operative Movement.
