CCW Activities

CCW General Assembly

In accordance with its Rules, CCW holds an annual meeting of members which is called the CCW General Assembly. It is normally held in conjunction with the ICA General Assembly.

CCW Working Groups

CCW has set up working groups to address specific issues including environment and green issues, electronic shopping and food quality (laboratories group). A number of meetings and policy documents have resulted from the discussions of these groups including: CCW also regularly participates in meetings of the committees of the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission on behalf of ICA. The Japanese Consumer Co-operative Union (JCCU) assures this representation. ICA has participated in the meetings of the following Codex Committees:
  • Codex Committee on General Principles
  • Codex Committee on Pesticides Residues
  • Codex Committee On Meat Hygiene
  • Codex Committee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Foods

CCW Sub-Committees

  • CCW Sub-Committee on Co-operative Identity and Values

    The aim of the Sub-Committee is to focus on the application of co-operative values and principles in the practices of consumer co-operatives, including how the co-operatives differentiate themselves from competitors on the basis of their unique co-operative identity. It also researches, identifies and promotes best practice among and for CCW members.

    The main of interest include food safety, ethical trading, concern for environment, and fair trade (particularly between the northern and southern hemispheres).


  • CCW Sub-Committee on Co-operative Business Effectiveness

    The aim of this Sub-Committee is to focus on effectiveness of the trading operations of consumer co-operatives, and to research, identify and promote best practices to CCI members.

    Its main areas of interest include market share (status and change of), marketing issues including possibilities of international procurement and distribution, and collaborationBack to top of page
