About ICFO

The International Co-operative Fisheries Organisation (IFCO) was originally founded in 1966, as a sub-committee of the ICA's Agricultural Committee. It became an independent body in 1976 and was known as the ICA Fisheries Committee. Today, ICFO has 15 member organisations from 12 countries. See contact information for ICFO members > > >

Aims

ICFO objectives include the :
  • creation of new co-operative fisheries organisations;
  • promotion of co-operative training and education, including the production of educational material;
  • exchange of technical information movements on a global basis;
  • promotion of trade.

Structure

ICFO is governed by it members according to its Rules. It holds an annual Plenary meeting where members elect a Chairperson, Vice-Chairs and other Board members. It is currently reviewing its Rules so that they are in compliance with the ICA Statutes and Bye-Laws.
