Farmers Fighting Poverty is the slogan that unites the agri-agencies of the AgriCord Alliance with the farmers unions gathered in the International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP). It supports them in their activities to contribute to the Millennium Development Goals and to eradicate hunger. Farmers Fighting Poverty is a programme of action that builds on the IFAP recommendations on this matter and channels development cooperation to hundreds of producer organizations in the developing world.
The Dutch development cooperation pledged an initial € 50 million to these farmers’ efforts. The AgriCord development cooperation is founded on the premise that farmers’ associations, including cooperatives, from grass-roots to international level contribute to democratic relations, economic development and an equal distribution of income.
