Throughout October, the ICA will organise the four-session online training series: “EU Delegations and EU Compliance for the Cooperative World”.
The fourth and final session, “EU Compliance, Organisational Readiness and Practical Next Steps”, taking place on 29 October 2026, will focus on the practical financial, compliance and organisational requirements that cooperative organisations need to meet to access and manage EU funding.
Building on the previous sessions, the training will help participants understand key EU financial and compliance rules, gain practical experience with project budgeting, assess their organisation’s readiness, and identify concrete next steps for engaging with EU funding opportunities.
What will participants learn?
- Understand key EU financial and compliance rules applicable to grants, including eligible costs, co-financing and procurement requirements.
- Gain practical experience in preparing or reviewing a simplified EU project budget.
- Understand key organisational readiness and due diligence requirements, including legal registration, financial capacity and EU registration and validation systems.
- Understand the practical compliance differences between EU grants and Global Gateway blended-finance instruments, including loans and guarantees.
- Assess their organisation’s current readiness and develop a concrete action plan for next steps.

Who should attend?
The training is aimed at ICA member organisations, national cooperative apex bodies, federations and individual cooperatives, both within and outside the European Union, interested in strengthening their organisational readiness, understanding EU funding requirements and exploring opportunities linked to EU external action and Global Gateway.
This activity is organized under the ICA-EU Partnership (2024-2028), also known as #coops4dev🌍, a five-year international cooperative development programme that aims to strengthen the ICA network and position cooperatives as key development actors within the European Union Development Agenda.
