99th ICA International Cooperative Day

27th UN International Day of Cooperatives

Rebuild Better Together

On this year’s International Day of Cooperatives (#CoopsDay) to be celebrated on 3 July, we are championing our commitment to Rebuild Better Together, the economic and social fabric damaged by the pandemic.

The brutality of the COVID-19 pandemic has marked us.  It is likely to leave a deep scar on our families, on our communities, on who we are and who we will become. The pandemic is not yet over and is even still severe  in many parts of the world.  The  cooperators - with  commitment and tenacity - continue to address urgent health, economic, social and cultural challenges, while simultaneously defining sustainable solutions for a common future.

More than 3 millions cooperatives around the world have shown that it is possible to produce, consume, save, educate, serve and live together, while also prioritizing the wellbeing of people and the environment.

Our strong cooperative identity is based on unique values and principles that are focused on responding to the needs and aspirations of people. In times of crises, this identity has helped rebuild communities that are more resilient and ensure a secure future for all.

Cooperatives can make a difference in the post-pandemic era. All of us must act today to achieve a just recovery in this complex world.

This year’s International Day of Cooperatives is also a tribute to all the humble and generous men and women of the cooperative movement who have anonymously contributed and stood in solidarity with  those in need. Cooperators are determined to act, against all odds, to build an ideal world to live in.

Join us on 3 July to say out loud that a people-centered & environmentally just future for all is possible.

On this special date, let’s proudly show our cooperative identity, and respond to the call to Rebuild Better Together.

Happy International Day of Cooperatives!
