This month’s newsletter brings you the latest news on co-operatives from across the world, as well as information from the Alliance’s regions and sectors.
You will learn about the latest Oxfam report, which highlights the importance of co-operatives when it comes to tackling inequality. With Co-ops for 2030 approaching 300 pledges, the eDigest will feature some case studies showing how co-operatives are helping to implement the Sustainable Development Goals. Putting people at the centre of development was also the key topic of our Global Conference and General Assembly in Malaysia, which took place in November last year. We also look back at the highlights of the year 2017, which include having co-operatives mentioned in the final B20 recommendations and engaging at high-level meetings at the United Nations.
This month the Alliance has appointed a new Director General. With over 30 years in the co-operative movement, Bruno Roelants will take over in the coming weeks from Charles Gould, who announced his retirement last year. More information on this topic here.
