Six new organisations have joined the International Cooperative Alliance over the last few months:
Malta Co-operative Federation (MCF)
MCF is a network of new-wave and successful multi-sector Maltese cooperatives seeking to promote, strengthen and improve the cooperative model in Malta. The federation works with its member cooperatives to establish ways that the cooperative principles can benefit members which, in turn, will provide excellent products and services to the clients and the general public they set out to serve. They also work to establish cooperatives in Malta.
Barbados Co-operative Business Association (BCBAL)
BCBAL is the national cooperative organisation representing the interests of all cooperative business entities in Barbados other than the credit unions. Their main activities include the provision of assistance to cooperatives, marketing of the movement, the pursuit of joint initiatives and provision of education and training.
Federación de Cooperativas de Ahorro y Crédito Ltda. (FECOAC)
FECOAC is a second-grade organisation in Paraguay, founded with the aim of providing its member cooperatives education, advice, technical assistance and union defence services. Also among its objectives is to act as a link between its members and public and private organisations, as well as with international organisations linked to the solidarity sector.
U.S. Overseas Cooperative Development Council, Inc. (OCDC)
OCDC brings together nine US cooperative organisations committed to building a more prosperous world through cooperatives. Its mission is to champion, advocate and promote effective international cooperative development. Their members’ international activities are powered by grants from the US Agency for Development’s Cooperative Development Program. Working as one unit, they promote sustainability and self-reliance through local ownership. OCDC is registered as a non-profit corporation.
Fujian Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (FUJIAN COOP)
FUJIAN COOP is a union of all supply and marketing cooperatives across Fujian province in China.
Jiangsu Supply and Marketing General Cooperative
Jiangsu Supply and Marketing General Cooperative is a provincial level federation from China representing supply and marketing cooperatives. It focuses on providing comprehensive services to the agriculture industry, rural areas and farmers, as well as their daily life.
The ICA has now 311 members from 111 countries.
