The latest issue of the Cooperative Insider is now available, bringing you news and sector updates on the global cooperative movement. In this edition we look at what cooperatives have to offer to young entrepreneurs. The newsletter includes a message from ICA president Ariel Guarco, who explains why young people are important for the cooperative movement today, and in the future.
The highlight of this issue is the Global Youth Forum on Cooperative Entrepreneurship, which took place on 3-7 February in Kuching, Malaysia. The newsletter provides a summary what happened at the forum, as well as updates from the ICA Youth Network and an interview with one of the participants.
This year will be marked by important anniversaries for the movement, including the 125th anniversary of the ICA, which will be celebrated with a World Cooperative Congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea, in December. The International Labour Organisation's Cooperative Unit is also commemorating its 100th anniversary while the ICA’s Asia-Pacific office – ICA-AP will be turning 60.
In the Cooperative Buzz section you will hear about some of the recent cooperative publications and legislation; the contribution of cooperatives to the SDGs and gender equality; and cooperative responses to some of the world’s natural disasters.
The Stories.coop section shares the story of a growing cooperative in Nigeria while the #Coops4dev section presents some of the latest initiatives taken by the ICA-EU partnership, including a series of webinars and a new website.
The issue also includes updates from the insurance and housing sectors, along with news from the ICA’s Americas and Asia-Pacific regions.
