Youth will be discussing how they can contribute to the Blueprint for a Co-operative Decade in Cape Town next month.

The International Co-operative Alliance will host its Youth Network Meeting at the Global Conference on 2 November. This will give youth Network members the chance to discuss on the role of the Youth Network in implementing the Blueprint.

“The Alliance firmly believes that the international youth movement is set to play a significant part in the delivery of the objectives in the Blueprint for a Co-operative Decade, and youth are mentioned throughout the document”, said José Antonio Chávez Villanueva (pictured), the Youth representative on the Alliance's Board.

The event will feature a presentation by Dr. Chiyoge B. Sifa, Regional Director of the Alliance's Africa Region, who will talk about the Co-operative Decade and youth in action. Another session will give Youth Network Members the chance to learn from four case studies of youth programmes implemented by African co-operatives. Regional Youth Committees will propose work plans for the Co-operative Decade, showcasing successful experiences from Europe, Americas and Asia and Pacific.

A discount is available for youth delegates (those under the age of 30), who can get a special reduced fee of CHF 200 to attend the entire conference from 1-5 November.

To make this year’s conference even more accessible, a bursary scheme is allowing ten delegates from around the world to attend the Cape Town event.

From a list of 116 applicants, ten winners of CHF 2,500 prize have been chosen to allow them to attend the conference.
